Facebook outlines plan to combat Fake News

Facebook founding chairman Mark Zuckerberg has Sketched “Fight Against The Fake” plan to combat fake news on the site.

Recently Facebook involved in controversy of being a “tool of mis-information” after some users complained fake news changed the outcome of the US election.

The social media site has faced strong criticism since the US presidential election for its alleged role in annunciating fake and misleading stories that are indistinguishable from real news.

This was the problem former US President Mr. Obama objected too in harsh word.

Following the criticism by former president, Mr Zuckerberg posted details of several programs to take “misinformation seriously”, including methods for stronger detection and verification.

Zuckerberg said Facebook has been ‘working on problem for a long time’ and ‘penalizes’ misinformation on news feeds to reduce chances it will spread.

While a week ago, Zuckerberg dismissed the “crazy idea” that fake news could influence voters. He responded to criticism of fake news on Facebook by saying over 99% of its content was “authentic”.

In his recent facebook post, billionaire Mr Zuckerberg said “We’ve been working on this problem for a long time and we take this responsibility seriously.”

He didn’t forget to add that the problems are complex, both technically and philosophically.
He further added Facebook did not want to discourage the sharing of opinions or become “arbiters of truth”.
